Ambush OMS 2.0

I got an idea and i hope you peple gona support it.First of all i got to be honest and say,i dont like ambush.I don't ask CCP to remove it,no.Just give us more variants to pick from. So here is my idea:The defenders in OMS have a couple of CRUs and suppli depots in the main facility in the center of the map and some defens turrets at the gates.The attakers have one CRU on one of each side of the map(the CRUs are deploeyd as the match starts),north,east,south,west.The players coud only spawn on the CRUs or on they own drop uplinks-mobile CRUs. No random respawn point,if a team lose theyr ability to spawn and lose all the clones on the field they are done.GAME OVER.So what you guys think?

This is actually probably quite doable with the current systems in place. Ill bring this up and see what we can do. No promises, but I can say we really could do this.

OMS variation is simply ambush with dropping in installations. The random spawning is based solely on locations of spawn point placements we add. So I am thinking (with out having asked just yet) that if we don't place our spawn points, and just have cru's with spawns set to teams from the start you would spawn at those cru's (you would have to select of course). I am thinking out loud here. Then of course we just use the standard installation drops you see in OMS.

Anything is possible given enough time.

I am not sure I am hot on losing the game if all the CRUs are lost, even if there are tons of clones out there. (And I think CCP might need code to push the alternate win condition here to players.)

But I really like a lot of this idea. One of my biggest problems with the way matches are currently treated is that the "defender" is not defending anything. They aren't inside the structure, battening down the hatches. I really want to see defenders feeling like they're defending, and assaulters feeling like they're assaulting.

Seems pretty unfair to attackers, I would suggest giving attackers more clones to balance the defender's spawns and defenses advantage.

Technically in ambush it is not attackers / defenders. It's really just Team 1 and Team 2 or some other variant.

Anyhow, the rough idea is good, not perfect, but it's a start point to something that could be very interesting after some thought is put into it.

Anything is possible given enough time.

I actually really like this idea.

EDIT: I really think Ambush OMS should just be lumped in with regular Ambush in the battlefinder, and the same for Domination and Skirmish (Domination being its own mode is a silly as 5 point Skirmish being its own mode), but this would truly deserve to be its own game mode.

Make ambush how it should be (technical definitionBlink) of attackers vs defenders.Smile

The infrastructure advantage should be to the defender e.g. more installations, defenses etc.
But as the great Horned Wolf said, the attackers should have more clones say double? to try & overwhelm the defenders via numbers.

You understand that when you ask for more modes you divide up the player base even further?

Right now there are 5 or 6 different 'lobbies' players can be in at once. That is about 1000 players in a lobby. With at least half in a game at any given time thats roughly 500 players for you to match up with.

Trying to make fairly matched games AND have lots of game modes gets really difficult with today's player base. If we would ALL get a new player to come on, that would be a different story.

...Good idea though...

An sp or isk bonus to players/squads willing to deploy where needed to fill battles would help with lobby splitting problem

Domination is much different than skirmish (no spawning on the letter, and installations drop in as the battle progresses, like OMS)

Also, many players don't like 1 version of ambush or the other. I personally like ambush OMS, while I hate regular ambush.

I absolutely support this. Maybe put the CRUs in a place where they could be destroyed but not from hills far away, build up some bunkers around them? This game really needs a few more good "casual modes" like this. Also Skirmish 1.0 don't forget!

If you think about conquest defenders should naturally have an advantage. It is their territory and they have dug in. Taking over someone else s territory should be harder for the invading force.

All defenders get at the moment in PC is more clones to use :P

I think this would be very cool, especially with the defenders bunkered in a socket such as the pyramid. Would be like a tower defense game.

A siege mode would be cool like that

Anything that uses more of that pyramid structure is a win. It's a shame how rarely it shows up in battle.

Support,would feel like the last objectve sieges in Skrism 1.0 and more clear cut TDM with a underlying objective giving player direction
