Depending on where you're reading this, you may have been listening to our show for the past two and a half years, or you may have never heard of us before. But we're super excited to tell you about what we have in the works for next year. We've extensively covered DUST 514, we've continued to move into wider realms of gaming and movie news, and as we move towards our third anniversary as a podcast, we're continuing to step up our game and expand our coverage.

We are pretty excited to say that we'll be going much more in depth into virtual reality. Soraya has acquired a Vive, and we'll finally be able to directly talk about and review VR games, and cover the latest developments in VR gaming. We're hoping to go more in depth into Valkyrie, Gunjack, and the rest of CCP's continued efforts in the field, and Soraya's wallet will be bled dry to bring you reviews on the greatest (and worst) games in VR. We're going to talk about Star Citizen, as it moves forward in it's continual development cycle, and the FPS game inside it, Star Marine. And of course, we'll continue to discuss the latest news and rumors of CCP's own shooter, now dubbed Project Nova.

In 2017, we're going to continue to refine our show format, continue to improve our show notes, and continue to evolve our livestream. We're going to stream more games, cover more platforms, and do more segments outside the weekly show. We're going to be bringing in new guests, and bringing back favorites from the community. We're continuing to look for feedback, guests to come on our show, and more. And we're expecting our host on hiatus, Jaysyn Larrisen, to return to the show early in 2017.

If you've been with us for a long time, I want to convey our sincere gratitude for your continued support. We absolutely love you, and you guys are why we do this thing. If you haven't heard of us before, we hope you'll join us. You can find us at http://biomassed.net

Sincerely,

The Biomassed Crew

We are looking forward to upping our game and trying to offer new and interesting stuff for you guys, and of course as soon as we can we will be covering Project Nova to the same degree that we covered DUST back in the day.

As usual, if you guys have any topics you want us to cover or games you want us to try/stream...let us know!

Star Marine has ruined FPS for me. I don't know how to live without seemless EVA anymore :'(

That's it? That alone is the one thing that defined it for you?

I mean, I can kind of understand people who played Tribes and Titanfall religiously talking about how they can't play games without enhanced mobility anymore, but there aren't even that big of spaces to traverse with EVA in Star Marine.

To each their own, I guess.

Well considering I'm not excited for Star Marine as much as I am for the overall integration into the main game. So I consider EVA to be a broader, overaching thing, that points to how I will be able to jump out of my ship and into other peoples ships and kill them. Or how I can jump out of a station and quickly fly around to the other side to hack a point from an odd angle.

I think of how it will pair with the large ships and the broader game as a whole and it excites me.

I don't care about Star Marine the module, I care about Star Marine as a system for the broader game to bring FPS into every moment of Star Citizen. It's extremely exciting to me, and yes, just being able to jump out into space then back into a station really does set it apart from all other FPS right now for me. I haven't had the chance to play TF2 though I know I will enjoy it, but it's apples to oranges. They're two entirely different things, and to judge either side by side isn't particularly fair to either.

My timeline for the games release when I backed was 2017 to 2020. That was my assumtion for an initial release, and I'll be comfortable with a release at any point in that time frame.

As you say, to each their own.

Currently they've only hinted at it being for PC but I wouldn't doubt a PS4 version either at the same time or not too long down the line.

Or I could be totally wrong and it stays PC only.

I can't imagine that CCP would turn down a new revenue stream once they have Nova in a stable place. Especially if there is little to no integration with EVE, it would be a poor business move to ignore a weighty console market when porting to consoles is so much easier this generation then it was previously.

The key part is that it has to be successful and stable. Porting is not usually that inexpensive so it has to be treated as an investment, and the game needs to prove itself to be competitive on PC before they consider further investment in what is effectively a different market.

Is it possible? Probably. But best assume it wont happen anytime soon.

Not assuming that it will be soon, or even this iteration of console, just making the point that it makes sense. Likewise, if it obviously fails on PC, it would probably fail elsewhere as well.

As far as investment goes, the largest part of the investment will be in developing the game. Compared to that, porting is a fraction of the cost, while reaching as large an audience, if not a significantly larger one.

Oh, goody. I am back to work and there are two new episodes to listen to. I am going to save them for when I am working on a couple of complex maps later in the week. I have been doing it so long that I can put together a map on autopilot, but I tend to slow down if I get board, so listening to a great Podcast while I work always keeps me productive.

Incidently it would be cool to talk about veteran rewards and the kinds of things we would like such as skins. I vote for a Phoenix and Photon SKIN!

I didn't review any VR games this week, but we should have a lot of VR-related news to talk about out of CES.
