[idea] Project Nova vehicles

Now the dust has settled a bit around Project Nova i need to say that i'm pretty disapointed. I had hoped for a release date and system specs, but it didn't come. Also the note that vehicles will be left out till other thing are made is something that would make me wait longer. I wish ccp goodluck with the new project, however Project Nova currently will fade to Dust for me.

From what I have read is that vehicles where not well balanced in game, but I believe that the vehicles in current stage provide a solid base to continue with the balancing and I think that the following tweaks could make a good or better balance.

Vehicle Terminal (VT)
If you request a vehicle it takes a while before the vehicle is deployed. This creates the thing that it is faster to walk to the objective in stead of using a vehicle. Suggestion: VT it is a building like a CRU or supply depo, you can hack it and interact with it and you can do an instant vehicle deploy. and when you would be in the middle of nowhere you can still call in a rdv.

Redline - hardnertime distance
With domination it is very simply that tanks (snipers) can be very effective from deep in the redline. Suggestion: increase the distance between the objective and the redline. tanks will not be capable to use full hardners on the objective and it creates a bigger weak moment for the tanks.
-Increased redline provides less cover for the redline snipers
-perhaps domination with no vehicles and a domination oms version on big maps

Light assault aircraft.
hp like a lav, more speed then a incubus, 2 turrets with no rotation like the incubus his first person view. turrets controled by the pilot. when the pilot fires with the turrets then the missle from turret 1 will land 5 meter next to the missle from turret 2. you can shoot with 2 turrets at a tank but you can only use one turret with a larger splash range for infantary.

Medium attack vehicle

not shure what kind of specs would be usefull for this, but it should be something like a current driving dropship. The Limbus was very nice, but if there will be MAV's then i would say that they need the logi exuipment.

vehicles have been pretty usefull on the battle field just like AV. Vehicles were amazing to get great views, to reach major hights and to create great battles.

vehicles are needed

and an other question could the MCC contruction facility be made active under other contract. I would like to play on that map

I agree that vehicles are one of the things that made Dust special for me however I don't believe rehashing vehicles as they were in Dust will bring balance.

If vehicles are in Nova they really need to be rebuild from the ground up with a set of overarching rules that ensure they remain in a stable place and that neither infantry nor vehicle pilots feel significantly disadvantaged against one another.

It's a difficult question really.

Ideally one AV player from a strong position and not doing the moronic things most novice AV players do should be a match for a tank.

That said I fundamentally believe that tanks need a redesign so that they are not ideally designed to engage infantry. That way I think it would be fair to suggest that while one AVer can run off an HAV two would really be needed to pop one before it can get away while not having too much to fear from the pilot themselves.

However if pilots are investing time and spots in their vehicle on gunners then understandably that HAV will be a lot harder to kill that if the pilot is alone.

TL;DR - I'd want to see tanks that are actually tanks with slow tracking powerful main cannon not design to target individual infantry. However if an infantryman is directly hit by this cannon they should expect to die. Attacking an HAV from cover should be one way to taking it out while getting close to it and under its guns should be another.

maybe have different types of tanks like anti-infantry tanks that have less help,av tanks for killing slow enemies and other tanks logistics tanks for heavy support like the rep tool or nano injector mandoes as well if it has open world gameplay add in heavy gunships and support ships and i want mavs

The issue isn't balance, it's the that there were no strong vehicle specific roles aside from throwaway transport, and any other roles were basically duplicates of things infantry already did...and typically they did it better making vehicles more of a power up than a seperate role.

You can talk balance and deployment methods all day as we have been for years, but it won't fix the core issue which is exactly why they won't be in the main game at launch.

Godin it's not called a 'destroyed state' in EVE but a 'reinforced state' and yeah I like that idea that tanks don't destroy infrastructure they suppress it.

At the risk of triggering the usual reaction when I post on the topic, I would like to see vehicles fall into a niche similar to titanfall. Powerful, deadly, useful as hell, but ultimately as expendable as a dropsuit in the field. Moving away from the ungodly cost model and over to something new would be my vote.

I also think vehicles should be developed concurrently with the maps intended to showcase their roles. Vehicles should be vulnerable to certain things, not only other vehicles, but I would love to see a vehicle designed to prey upon tank-hunter sentinels, or AVmandos.

What I'm going to get flak for is...

I think that as long as dropships are a thing, the classic idea of an MAV is redundant and unnecessary. We bluntly don't need APCs.

HAVs I'm on board with Adamance and his comments.

LAVs I think should be renamed Fast-attack vehicles and simply made available on the battlefield.

I would see actual LAVs as tank and AV hunter vehicles.

I have my biases towards designs built around roles, rather than having a tank because tanks are cool.

And bluntly I want MTACs first, this go-round.

Okay... then why use anything but vehicles? Might as well make WoT with New Eden themed vehicles.

vehicles can't do everything. They aren't exactly viable at all on the map showcased at Fanfest, being the internals of a Caldari Chimera Carrier.

There are things infantry can do that vehicles can't. And bluntly, some of us would rather perforate a tank than drive one.

To expand, Titans in titanfall are absolutely goddamn lethal, and worth the price of admission.

But they can be cut down by infantry players using the correct weapons, tactics and not being idiots. In fact the titans go down pretty damn fast against rock-solid players.
