Dear DUST 514 Beta Testers

Recently, there has been a spate of instances where individuals participating in the DUST 514 Closed Beta have breached their NDA. We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that as part of the DUST 514 Closed Beta, accepting and adhering to the NDA is a legally binding requirement that all DUST 514 Closed Beta participants have agreed to.

We understand and appreciate your enthusiasm for DUST 514. After all, it isn’t every day that one has the opportunity to participate in a ground breaking event that bridges two gaming platforms to create a new MMO genre. However, it is equally important that everyone follow the terms and conditions of the NDA so that we may protect the integrity of the DUST 514 Closed Beta testing phase. If you are not familiar with or do not recall the NDA, here’s the link to the on-line location of the NDA.

Going forward, we will continue to enforce the NDA to its fullest measure and any Closed Beta participants found in breach of the NDA will receive a permanent ban on their DUST 514 account(s), without exceptions. We realize and value the time and efforts from all of you participating in the DUST 514 Closed Beta to make DUST 514 a great MMO experience to the world and we wish to see all of you continue to contribute in this regard. Thank you.

The DUST 514 Development Team

Although I appreciate lawyer-speak as much as the next guy, you might consider producing a very short, human-readable version.

NON-OFFICIAL DRAFT FOR RECREATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY:

* The first rule of Fight Club is don't talk about Fight Club. Not even on Twitter.
* Provide feedback. This isn't a free game. The price you pay for entrance is in frequent, honest, detailed feedback.
* DUST514 is provided as-is. CCP want's feedback, but is under no obligation to fix anything that's broken.
* You don't own your account or the data in it. When the Beta is closed, your characters, your ISK, your AUR all go *poof*.
*Wil Wheaton says "Dont be a douche." If you are a douche, CCP can ban you "forever," meaning you won't be able to play the real DUST514 either.
* If DUST514 gives you seizures or burns down your house or causes aliens to enslave humanity, CCP may give you up to $50. Or not.

Actually, Tjo... our chars DON'T go poof :) at ff, when asked, CCP told us that we get to keep our characters, however it was unlikely that we would get any of the items/isk/sp that we had accrued during our testing time.

..... but, it was ALSO announced that they would "try to give us something to make up for that fact"

Really? Cause I heard: "You will keep your SP, ISK, etc" in that presentation... (yeah, I was there). I'm sure that means they'll do something like a player wipe a week, maybe two, before "open beta" comes around (so that we don't have THAT much of a head start over everyone else), but nonetheless... Some quantifiable amount of our acquired skills, points, monies, etc... will "carry over" to the live version.

I didn't read it anywhere, so I ask:

Are we allowed to say that we participate in the closed beta and tell about a great experience we had?

While I'm not sure about the first part, the second part, as long as it only contains infos that we have already seen (and we saw so much from the game already) shouldn't be a problem.

What staff - even Hilmar - says in a live event and what the lawyers write into the license are two different, and frankly unrelated, things. One is the fantasy realm of PR and the other is real.

CCP has already hinted at character resets during the Beta period, and you'll notice there's very clear language in the Manual for how AUR purchases are re-spawned during these resets (further implying that resets are planned and may, in fact, happen). It's likely that CCP will let us retain our character names, and perhaps some sort of head start on later players, but they haven't put that in writing.

Where's The Mittani when you need him?

I sure hope they reset everyone before launch.

Would not be very fair if the betatesters got a free head start.

CCP didnt do that in EvE beta, nor should they do it here.

I am fairly certain that it has been stated that any AUR that are wiped will be refunded after each wipe, and this will include spent AUR.

Otherwise it would be a real good scam to get people to buy AUR and then delete all their gear to get them to buy more.....and CCP are not that s****y

I lost 2 characters I had when I first started the beta, but was unable to login and play due to scheduling issues for a month and a half. How would I go about finding out if that was caused by suspected breach of the NDA? I've only gone so far as to put a smiley face in response and say "It's awesome". Are those considered breaches? IF not then I guess my characters were wiped during a system wide reset that I was unaware of.

SadLol I have no idea.Question

That's something I'd like to know as well. I'd think it's safe to say that we're playing; it shows as what you're playing to friends on PSN.

Yes, our plan is to allow your characters from beta to be carried over to the full game. The items and Aurum from the Mercenary Pack will also carry over to the full game.

Yes. your charecter names carry over but they are reset. All aurum and exclusive bundle items are also reset to your account.

No SP or Isk is carried over.

Its still not really a open beta , you cant just look in the psn store and download it unless you buy the merc pack.

With being able to get in to the beta from the Merc pack and PS Home can we please left the NDA, I would love to start hyping up the game to my Eve and PS3 friends.
