Project Nova is still very much alive and in the works, their CEO, CCP Hellmar I think, said that he was committed to the upbringing of Project Nova.

They want too make sure that it is a solid game before they give out any more info on it. they say there is no specific release date and that they will inform us when they are ready. They also contemplate a potential story mode, or solo mode, easier Skill tree, and the potential for the experimental 46 player matches.

However. They do say that it may or may not be free to play.

I see.

Thank you for taking the time to write that message mate.

It's good to hear that the top brass is solidly on board like that, and I can accept the reasoning behind their decisions to withhold a specific release date, although I must say that a general projected date would be decidedly favorable for, if nothing else, building anticipation.

A story/solo mode would be desirable to serve as either a sort of training for multiplayer or to give a taste of what CCP has to offer through Project Nova, which can be built upon as new ideas and technologies come through perhaps the creation of DLCs.

While a 'reworked' or 'evolved' skill tree is very appealing, an 'easier' skill tree, while perhaps ideal for the unavoidable fresh newberry, could serve to detract from Project Nova by making everyone from the savey and cunningly nuanced min-maxer to the professional rainmakers limited and frankly unimpressed and doomed to reminisce of 'the golden days of Dust' forevermore.

The experimental 46 player matches is definitely something that will be thought of positively, although it will have to depend on how they go about it. Regardless, the potential of it is very enticing indeed since it sings to part of what made Dust so unique and cherished.

If it ends up being free to play, pay to win more easily as it arguably has been for Dust, this can be well accepted by veterans first (since it is a throwback to Dust of course and it gives us the ability to show how much we value CCP and their work), eager newberries second (since it will give them a chance to experience Project Nova for all it's worth, while giving more power to them in choosing to invest themselves and perhaps their wallets to the good fight), and CCP last (since as far as I know that has not appeared to be very economically viable for them). Unfortunate as it may be, I wouldn't expect much in this area, given the fact that part of the reason for the Shutdown was that finances became an issue (despite the goodwill and efforts of many of us it seems) so while nothing can be certain, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to assume that something like EvE and its subscriptionesque model would be adapted or 'enhanced' to make sure that the burden lies not with CCP, but most probably elsewhere.

Also, what happened to the player-driven market? That certainly was something with significant potential that shouldn't be lost or forgotten.

Hope it all goes well though.

I agree with what you have too say on this, as being able to trade was an incredible feature. i wouldn't think that they would get rid of that.

Also note that all of our character information and corporation information are still on the EVE database, if not obvious. while playing EVE, however, there is still a chat channel open to infantry. You are not able too message your character, but you can add them with whatever standing you wish. So I think, in my opinion of course, not based on fact, that we will be able too keep our characters and their corporations. while we may lose our gear, I'm ok with that. I would love to play as Ce'ell again.
Also take into account that Dust 514 is still in the PSN Marketplace online and on the PS3, so in theory Project Nova may be on the PS4 as well as PC, but that's only theory

There is speculation that maps in this game will be balanced between space stations, and surface combat. I would genuinely enjoy that.

As for a projected release date they say it could be late 2017 to sometime in 2018.

I also hear a speculation of more planets being open too us, unlike being limited to only planets within the four empires and the Molten Heath. While playing EVE I noticed that outside of NPC controlled space ( Caldari, Gallente, Minmitar, Amarr) there were planets with lights on them, if you look into the shadow side of the planet, there are obviously vast cities on them. perhaps we'll see more city and not just depots and docking stations?

Hmm.

Thanks again for the new information and speculation alike, especially on the EvE side of things.

Didn't CCP say something along the lines of Dust being a learning experience? I would be inclined to think that they would keep the character and corporation information as a record to reference moving forwards. If they decide to reincarnate us (which I would think to be quite a time consuming and resource intensive process), I don't think there is a veteran who would complain about being able to relive their legends, but I think that CCP may instead give veterans a voucher to claim their name and corporation before the general public can, or something else to these regards. In effect, this would be the most effective way of appealing to veterans while not making the newberry experience too different.

I think they left the chat so they could repurpose it instead of 'reinventing the wheel,' as they say, for Project Nova. After all, this is the primary connector of all of New Eden.

I am not sure why they would keep Dust on the PSN Marketplace and on the PS3, but if Project Nova comes to console as well as PC, this brings up two issues. First, won't this split the player base? I am not sure, but as far as I know, PC and console servers have been different 'fundamentally' so that they can't cross-communicate, but maybe this is becoming less and less true as technology progresses. How Project Nova on console, Project Nova on PC, and EvE Online on PC would be able to seamlessly connect, drawing New Eden close, is something that I think would be much more difficult than simply connecting Project Nova and EvE Online if they are both only on PC. In addition, any technological advancements or updates would have to be altered to make affect the program the same way throughout the user interface, which again would pose an extra and arguably unnecessary burden on CCP, which may not even work out in the end despite their best efforts.

In regards to maps, I think it would add a whole new dimension if CCP could incorporate space battles with the FPS nature of Project Nova to make it so that interplanetary battles could be fought with EvE players and Project Nova players simultaneously, with the infantrymen perhaps stowed on ships that would have to dock on/in the opposing planet/ship and proceed to take over command, or something of the like. It may be difficult to implement, but definitely worth it on many fronts, as it adds to the variety of play styles and game modes as well as better unifying New Eden's EvE and Project Nova.

It is nice to hear that there is some semblance of a deadline, but all I can say is that I hope Project Nova results in a final product that is truly worthy of being the successor of Dust 514.

New Eden should definitely expand, and I think it certainly will. Perhaps we may get more planets and clans, but maybe a new galaxy or a few new empires or even races at the shadowy ends of the horizon, all of which I think would be absolutely enthralling.

If CCP ever needs ideas or even simple inspiration, all they have to do is look to the veterans that know Dust and EvE so well, and ask. I am sure that many of us would be more than happy to help if it means making Project Nova that much better.

Hope it all goes well.

Well regardless of what they choose to do i'm still happy with the fact that they are committed to the idea of Nova. I really look forward to seeing us all back in action. Besides, i'm tired of flying though the vastness of space, lol. If they do let us keep our corporations and character names, the feel free too hit me up. I'd like to fight with you some time.
My corporation wouldn't hurt too have some new people in it either. lol.

I hear you loud and clear, friend. I too yearn for the day that I can rejoin my brothers-in-arms and fight the good fight alongside you and all the other mercs. I will definitely keep you and your corporation in mind, and may even take you up on your offer, but as for now, I say we wait and see how it goes.

Hope it all goes well.

* Long sigh* reminiscing through old memories. is nice. but on a serious note, if there are tanks, they shouldn't be able to shoot over the battlefield and get a pinpoint shot on. lol.

Unfortunately no, however*** a friend of mine has created a petition in hopes that we will get a demo of Nova using Dust to generate hype and promote Nova.
This will give former Dusters the chance to re-sharpen their skills on the grounds of New Eden and give new players the chance to gain standing themselves ( temporarily for everyone of course ).

Also, Though this may be alot to ask we would like too ask that when Nova is released, previous Dust players have their names, and corporations re-instated too them. Please take these into consideration.
